Tree Assessments |

|
Tree assessments are often required by towns, cities and municipalities, and are necessary for tree preservation. Without an assessment, needless money will be spent. And the development team cannot make realistic decisions.
In the world of arboriculture, tree assessments are where the proverbial rubber meets the road in the urban forest. A significant amount of knowledge is required to conduct a professional tree assessment. Knowledge of tree biology, tree ordinances, negligence issues as they relate to hazardous trees, and preservation outcome is crucial. An accurate estimate of costs related to a cure or repair is dependant on knowledge of compliance regulations and the outcomes of court cases relating to values and safety issues. Familiarity with current resources and knowledge of insects and diseases is also necessary. There is specialized equipment and people trained in its use needed to conduct a professional tree assessment. This includes devices to measure the height and diameter of trees, infrared cameras, global positioning systems (GPS), tensiometers, core borers and air knives. Tree assessment is a science. The outcome is an art.
